How to Apply to Wigston College Sixth Form

For admission to Advanced Level programmes of study, students are usually expected to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-5 or equivalent (including 4s in English Language and Mathematics). Students also need to meet any individual subject entry criteria stipulated. If students have the grades to take specific subjects but have a grade 3 in English or Mathematics or both, resit classes will be available. Students can take a combination of A Level and other level 3 courses (e.g. BTEC) if they so wish.
For students who have studied BTEC along with GCSEs, a Merit or Distinction is required to progress on to A Level courses, unless otherwise stated in the prospectus.
Students will be expected to have a proven track record of a positive engagement for learning and a good record of attendance at Key Stage 4.
Students are required to study 3 subjects at Advanced Level, over a two year period.
In some cases, students will be encouraged to take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside their A Level subjects.
Year 11 students should apply to Wigston College Sixth Form via Positive Steps at Post 16, an online admissions system used by schools with Year 11 students across Leicester and Leicestershire. However, if a student’s current school does not use this system, or for other categories of applicants, there is an online application form below.
